Amsterdam Rijksmuseum - Mittelalter und Kolonialzeit - Medieval Age and Colonial Era

Auf geht's. In den Keller, also ins unterste Stockwerk. Dort gibt es eine sehr umfassende Sammlung von mittelalterlicher Holzschnitzkunst und Altargemälden. Allerdings gab es auch Bilder, die ich eher im frühen 20. Jahrhundert verortet hätte, von der Art des Malens her, aber ich finde ja auch, dass El Greco wie ein moderner Maler gemalt hat. Sicher sind die Malereien aus dieser Zeit von unterschiedlicher Güte, aber ich bin heute immer noch sehr verwundert über die Aussage meiner Kunsterziehungslehrerin aus der Grundschule, die uns vermittelt hat, dass die Menschen in früheren Zeiten noch nicht so gut malen konnten und dass darum manche Bilder nicht so lebensecht aussähen wurden. Bei nicht wenigen Kunstwerken hatte ich eher das Empfinden, dass der religiöse Kontext nur ein Vorwand war, um hervorragende Portraits zu erschaffen, sowohl als Bild als auch als Skulptur.

Natürlich gab es auch viele Reliquienschreine, ein sehr typisches Kunstwerk in der Zeit vor der Reformation und schön, dass doch einige den Bildersturm überstanden haben. 

In der Abteilung für Kunst aus der Kolonialzeit und den Kolonien hat mich natürlich ein ein Model und ein Intarsientisch mit dem Model der Insel Dejima angesprochen, denn dort war ich schon (http://fraumb-far-far-away.blogspot.jp/2015/04/dejima-holland-in-japan.html) und hier war sehr gut zu sehen, wie die Bebauung auf der Insel im Lauf der Zeit sich verändert hat.

Let's go. Into the basement. There we find a comprehensive collection of medieval wood carving art and altar paintings. On the other hand, there were even pictures, I would have located in the begin of the 20th century, but in my opinion did El Greco painted like a modern artist. Of course is the a variety in the quality of the art work of this time, but I'm still amazed about the statement of my art teacher in elementary school, that people in former time was quite able to paint or draw that good, that's why some pictures aren't look that realistic. With many of those artworks I had the impression, the religious context was used as excuse to created gorgeous portraits, in paintings and sculptures. 

Of course there where many reliquary shrines, a typical piece of art in time before the Reformation and it's good to see, that some survived the Iconoclasm.

In the area of art of the colonial times and The colonies I was attracted by a model and an inlaid table with the model of Dejima, because I already visited it (http://fraumb-far-far-away.blogspot.jp/2015/04/dejima-holland-in-japan.html) and it was interesting for me to see, how the buildings on the island changed during times.
