Die Schönheit der Gnade - The Beauty of Mercy

Auf unserem Rückweg vom Meer kommen wir in Ōfuna vorbei, dort steigen wir aus, um die Göttin der Barmherzigkeit zu besuchen. Die Göttin ist ein Tempel, ein Tempel in Form einer 25 Meter hohen weißen Büste. Der Bau begann im Jahr 1929, nachdem die Verehrung der Göttin der Gnade im ersten Drittel des 20. Jahrhundert große Verbreitung fand. Die Göttin war anfangs Adressat für Gebete für ewigen und umfassenden Frieden, die Initiatoren des Baus widmeten die Statue und den Tempel der Verteidigung des Vaterlands. Hat sie sich nicht gefallen lassen. Der Bau wurde 1934 unterbrochen und der Krieg verhinderte den Weiterbau für 20 Jahre.
In 1954 wurde ein Konsortium zum Wideraufbau gegründet, die Arbeiten waren 1960 abgeschlossen. Die Statue wurde aus Beton gegossen, und das alles in Handarbeit. Die Göttin erhielt einen weißen Mantel, äh, Anstrich und fertig.
Im Inneren der Statue befindet sich ein Micro-Museum und ein Mini-Schrein. Die imposante Statue ist von einem wunderschönen Garten umgeben und sieht im nahenden Sonnenuntergang fast ein wenig mystisch aus. Am Fuß des kleinen Tempelbergs gibt es eine Gedenkstätte für die Atombombenopfer, es ist eben doch die Göttin der Barmherzigket. Es gibt noch eine zweite schöne Göttinenstatue, und einen größeren Jizo mit einem sehr kindgerechten Lätzchen und Mützch.

On our way back from the sea we come along Ōfuna, we get off there, to see the goddess of mercy. The goddess is a temple, a temple in shape of a 25 meter high white bust. They began the construction in 1929, after the belief in the goddess of mercy spread in the begin of the 20 century. The prayers in the begin where all about eternal and comprehensive peace, but the statue and temple were built in the name of the defense of the fatherland. The goddess didn't put up with that, the war made the construction stop in 1934 and for the next 20 years.
In 1954 a consortium for the reconstruction was founded, the work was done 1960. The statue is made out off poured concrete and is hand made. The goddess got a white robe, err paint on and done.
Inside the bust is there a micro-museum and a mini-museum. The impressing statue is surrounded by a beautiful and it looks in the near sunset a bit mystical.
At the foot of the small temple hill there is a memorial for the victims do the atomic bombs, at least it is the goddess of mercy, there is another beautiful statue of a mercy goddess and a Jizo with a child suited hat and bib.
