Der Kongress ist vorbei, meine Halsschmerzen auch und es ist noch Zeit für ein wenig Sightseeing und es regnet auch gar nicht so sehr. Und, ich habe das Bonner Münster noch nicht von innen gesehen.
Von außen eigentlich auch nicht, denn es ist unter etlichen Gerüsten und Planen verborgen. Seit 2017 wird das Gebäude generalüberholt und seit Oktober 2021 ist der Innenraum wieder zu besichtigen. Ja, perfekt.
Das Münster hat als romantische Stiftskirche angefangen, als das Stift säkularisiert wurde und die benachbarte St. Martins Kirche im 19. Jahrhundert abgerissen wurde, wurde das Münster die Kirche der Gemeinde St. Martin und hat heute den Status einer Basilika minor.
Innen geht es einmal durch die Architekturgeschichte, es gibt romantische, gotische und sehr viele barocke Gestaltungselemente. Es gibt zwei Altäre, eine schöne barocke Kanzel und opulente Wandmalereien, die mich sowohl an russische Ikonenbilder als auch an die Illustration aus der Manessischen Liederhandschrift erinnern. Auch die große Orgel ist sehr imposant, und die Schnitzarbeiten haben hin und wieder einen Touch Bauhaus. Alles in allem ist der Stil eklektisch und trotz der vielen Bilder und Statuen vermittelt die Kirche einen Eindruck von Schlichtheit und Ruhe.
Derart spirituell gestärkt kann ich mich auf die Heimreise begeben und mich auf meine nächste Reise freuen.

The congress is over, so is my sore throat and there is still time for some sightseeing and it is not raining that much. And, I haven't seen the Bonn Minster from the inside yet.
Not really from the outside either, because it is hidden under a number of scaffolding and tarpaulins. The building has been undergoing a general overhaul since 2017 and the interior has been open to visitors since October 2021. Yes Perfect.
The minster started out as a romantic collegiate church, when the monastery was secularized and the neighboring St. Martin's Church was demolished in the 19th century, the minster became the church of the parish of St. Martin and today has the status of a minor basilica.
Inside you can go through the history of architecture, there are romantic, gothic and many baroque design elements. There are two altars, a beautiful baroque pulpit, and opulent murals that remind me of both Russian icon images and the illustration from the Manessian Song Manuscript. The large organ is also very impressive, and the carvings occasionally have a touch of Bauhaus. Overall the style is eclectic and despite the many pictures and statues the church gives an impression of simplicity and tranquillity.
Spiritually strengthened in this way, I can start my journey home and look forward to my next trip.
