Weiter geht's und gleich wird es wieder etwas altertümlich, eine mobile Poststation verkauft Kuverts und Briefmarken und stempelt auch alles gleich ab, dann kann man sich einen Brief schicken und sich schreiben, dass man in Nikko war.
Vorbei noch an der Pagode und durch das große Niōmon-Tor und nun betrete ich das prachtvollste, opulenteste, gewaltigste und interessanteste Mausoleum, das ich bis jetzt gesehen habe.
Ich denke, man kann viele Wochen hier zubringen, um alle Geschichten zu lesen, die von den Künstlern ins Holz geschnitten worden sind, aber ich erzähle die der drei Affen.
Das Symbol kenne ich schon lange und früher besaß ich eine kleine Bronzefigur und immer hieß es, die Affen stünden für die Aufforderung oder Lebensweise, je nach Interpretation: nichts hören, nichts sehen, nichts sagen. Gar nicht! Hier lerne ich die ganze Geschichte:
Die Affenmutter schaut in die Zukunft ihres Kindes, und das Kind schaut zu ihr. Die drei Affen sagen, dass Kinder nichts Böses hören, sehen und sagen sollen. Der Junge wächst heran, ist ehrgeizig und schaut nach vorn, oder manchmal ist er auch frustriert vom Leben und ein Freund tröstet ihn. Er verliebt sich. Das Junge Paar meistert die Höhen und Tiefen des Lebens. Die Affenfrau ist schwanger und der Kreis schließt sich.
The main attraction of the temple city in the mountains is the Toshogu shrine. Coming from the Rhinnōji temple you first meet a landmark, telling us, that we are at the same level like the top of the sky tree ( http://fraumb-far-far-away.blogspot.jp/2013/02/der-turmbau-zu-babel-tower-of-babel.html ). Impressive.
But soon it will be old fashioned again, you will come along a mobile post office, where they sell envelops and stamps, and you can send yourself a letter telling you that you have been in Nikko.

I knew about the symbol of the three monkeys since forever and once I had a little stutue of it, and it was always told, depend on the way one looks at it, that it's about the philosophy or the order: not hearing, not talking, not seeing. That's wrong! Here I learned the real story:
The mother is looking into the future of her child and the child looks at her. Three monkeys tell, that a child shall nothing evel see, hear or talk. The boy is growing up, and looks up ambitiously, or sometimes is frustrated by life but is cheered up by a friend. Later he fell in love and the young couple is sailing on the rough waves of life. Than the wife becomes an expecting mother and the circle starts all over again.
