Victoria Harbour Hong Kong

 Nun bin ich wieder als Alleinreisende unterwegs, habe mein neues Zimmer bezogen, Bett, Schrank, Tisch, Sessel, Dusche, mobiles Telefon, mobiler Router, ich liebe Hong Kong, und einen wunderbaren Ausblick auf den Victoria Harbour, der in chinesischen unter anderem Jyutping heißt, was Mittleres Tor bedeutet. und ein natürlicher Hafen zwischen Hong Kong Island und der Halbinsel Kowloon ist. Den Namen Victoria erhielt er von den Engländern, nachdem Hong Kong 1843 englische Kolonie wurde. Die Wassertiefe und die Breite der Seestraße gaben den Ausschlag dafür, dass die Inseln zur Kronkolonie wurden, also eine spezielle, herausragende Kolonie, in der es den Einheimischen zumeist auch nicht besser erging, als in ordinären Kolonien.

Der Victoria Harbour war Dreh- und Angelpunkt des britischen Seehandels mit Ostasien und prägte somit über zwei Jahrhunderte Wirtschaft und Kultur Hongkongs und hat somit den Ort zu dem gemacht, was er heute ist, ein bedeutendes Wirtschafts- und Finanzzentrum.

Und natürlich ist er auch für Besucher_innen wie mich attraktiv, es ist ein großes Areal mit spektakulären Ausblicken auf die Skyline, Möglichkeiten zum spazieren gehen, einkaufen und tolle Fotos zu machen.

Beliebte Motive sind die Dschunken mit den roten Segeln, die im Hafen kreuzen. Generell gibt es viel Bootsverkehr, ist halt ein Hafen, und ich nutze eine Fähre der Linie Star Ferry, die mich von Tsim Sha Tsui auf der Halbinsel Kowloon nach Hong Kong Island bringt, damit ich die nächtliche Lightshow sehen kann. Diese wird viel beworben und ist durchaus spektakulär, allerdings ist in November nun fast Regenzeit und darum der Himmel verhangen und außerdem gibt es Smog auch hier.

Now I´m traveling on my own again, saw my new room, bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, shower, mobile phone, pocket wifi, I love Hong Kong, and a grandiose view onto Victoria Harbour, which is called Jyutping in Chinese (among others) and means Middle Gate. It´s a natural harbour between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon peninsula. The name Victoria was given by the English when Hong Kong became a colony in 1843. The harbour´s deep waters and the wide of the sea lanes was the reason Hong Kong was made a crown colony, a special outstanding colony, where the people who first lived here probably didn´t had a better life than people in ordinary colonies.

Victoria Harbour was the key element for the British sea trade in East-Asia for about 200 years and it made Hong Kong the place it is now, an important international trading and financial centre.

And for course it´s very attractive for visitors like me, a huge area with spectacular views onto the skyline of Hong Kong, places for a stroll, for shopping and for taking great pictures.

Very loved are the junks with the res sails, cruising in the harbour. Generally is there a lot of boat traffic, at least it´s a port and I use a boat of Star Ferry Line to go from Tsim Sha Tsui on Kowloon to Hong Kong Island strand promenade to watch the all evening light show. It was pointed out everywhere not to miss it and I´m sure it´s gorgeous, but it´s November now, rainy season is showing up and the sky is cloudy and there is smog too.
