Postmoderne Architektur, Kunstinstallationen und Einkaufszentren, eine bombastische Kombination aus Design, Technik, Kommerz, Spaß spiegeln die Faszination der Japaner an der Verbindung vom Kunst und Kitsch, Raffinesse und totaler Künstlichkeit wider.
Die Anreise erfolgt mit der Monorailbahn, welche fahrerlos über den Dingen schwebt.
Angefangen habe ich am Tokyo Big Sight, einer architektonischen Meisterleistung, die aus vier auf der Spitze stehenden Pyramiden besteht, die ein Konferenzzentrum, Ausstellungshallen und Gastronomie beherbergt und man kann überall herumlaufen, ohne dass jemand fragt: eh, wo wollen Sie denn hin. Einige Rolltreppen und Lichtanlagen sind abgeschaltet, wir müssen Strom sparen. Nachdem ich mir einen Überblick über die artifizielle Halbinsel verschafft habe, mache ich mich auf nach Palette Town, dort war ich am ersten Abend bereits einmal.
Hier gibt es ein riesiges Riesenrad, einen noch riesigeren Showraum von Toyota und ein normal großes Einkaufszentrum Venus Ford. Und genau in der Reihenfolge habe ich Sehenswertes gewürdigt, der Ausblick vom Riesenrad war riesig, die "Historic Garage" von Toyota war unterhaltsam und im Einkaufszentrum gab es beeindruckende Lichtinstallationen, wunderschön.
Nach Rückkehr in die reale Welt ein kurzer Abstecher zur "Freiheitsflamme", einer 27 Meter hohen Statue von Marc Coutelier, ein kurzer Blick auf das Gebäude des National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, dann wieder einen Blick von oben, während einer kurzen Fahrt mit der Monorail, dann weiter zum Daiba Seaside Park. Hier gibt es einen umwerfenden Blick auf die Rainbowbridge, einen irritierenden Blick auf eine Kopie der Freiheitsstatue und wieder Lichtinstallationen. In Decks Tokyo Beach gibt es eine Nachbildung einer Straße aus dem alten Hong Kong, eine schöne Idee für eine Einkaufspassage, außerdem gab´s eine minimalistische Exposition von Madam Tussauds.
Und es gab den Sonnenuntergang über Tokyo.
Postmodern architecture, art installations and shopping malls, that´s a bombastic combination out of design, technic, commerce, fun, that reflect the fascination of the japanese people for art and kitsch, sophistication and total artification.
Arrival by monorail train, who works without a driver.
I started with Tokyo Big Sight, a architecnical marvel consisting out of four pyramids, standing on their tops. It´s a center for conference, for exibitions, there are restaurants and cafes. You can walk around everywhere without somebody yelling at you: hey, where are you going there. Some of the escalaters and lights where put off to save energy. After getting an oversight over the artificial peninsula I went for Palette Town, where I´ve been already at my first evening. There is a giant sky wheel, a giant showroom by Toyota and a normal size shopping mall "Venus Ford". In this order I went for sightseeing, the view from the skywheel was fantastic, the showroom with the "Historic Garage" entertaining and in the mall there were very impressing lightshows.
Back to the real world I saw the "Flame of liberty" a 27 metre high statue by Marc Coutelier and than went for the building of National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. Than I was looking from above again by using the monorail once more and reached Daiba Seaside Park. There is a fascinating view to the Rainbowbridge and an irritating look at a copy of the "Lady of Liberty" and a super light show again. At Decks Tokyo Beach is an immitation of a street of old Hong Kong, a nice idea for a shopping street and a minimal part of Madam Tussauds.
