Amsterdam Festival of Lights

Der eigentliche Grund für unser Hiersein, neben dem Besuch bei Marilyn Monroe (http://fraumb-far-far-away.blogspot.jp/2017/03/amsterdam-nieuwe-kerk.html), war eine Grachtenfahrt bei Nacht durch die illuminierten Grachten. Amsterdam ohne Grachtenfahrt geht eigentlich nicht, und es gibt unzählige Angebote und Anbieter.

Wir fahren am Abend und haben das Glück, einen Fensterplatz im Schiff gefunden zu haben. 

Die Fahrt startet am Hauptbahnhof, beziehungsweise in dem Kanal davor und zuerst geht es zum Gelände des NEMO Science Museum und Schifffahrtsmuseum mit Lichtinstallationen im Wasser, an den Gebäuden und natürlich an den Schiffen, sowohl an den dort liegenden Seglern, als auch an dem Nachbau des Großsegler der Oost-India-Compagnie, der zum Museum gehört. 

Danach führt die Tour uns in den Grachtengürtel und neben den ständig angeleuchteten Häusern und Brücken gibt es unzählige Lichtskulpturen rechts und links an den Ufern. Leuchtende Kristalle, blühende Tulpen, geometrische Figuren, eine Häkeltischdecke, die sich über die Gracht spannt, tanzende Lichter an Bäumen, beleuchtete Stadtpläne und Fahrradpiktogramme und ein Regenbogen-Tor und einen auf dem Wasser. 

Saba fiel wieder ein, warum sie so selten Boot fährt, es macht sie schläfrig und ich wollte, dass es gar nicht aufhört.

The actual reason why we came here, beside visiting Marilyn Monroe (http://fraumb-far-far-away.blogspot.jp/2017/03/amsterdam-nieuwe-kerk.html), was the canal cruise by along the illuminated canals. One can't do Amsterdam without a canal cruise, and there are various offers and providers.

We take the evening cruise and are lucky, that we got a window seat. 

It starts at the central station, or at least in the canal in front and turns first to the area of the NEMO Science Museum and the Maritime Museum with light installation in the water, at the buildings and of course at the boats, at the anchoring sailing boats as well as at the rebuilt of a tall ship from the Oost-India-Compagnie, which belongs to the museum. 

Then the ride is going on and turns into the canal-belt and beside the all time alit houses and bridges are there countless light-sculptures right and left hand side on the banks. Shining crystals, blooming tulips, geometrical ornaments, a crocheted tablecloth, hanging over a canal, dancing lights on trees, illuminated city maps and bicycle pictograms, a rainbow gate and one rainbow on the water.

Saba remembers, why she selten gets on a boat trip, it makes her sleepy, and me, I wish, it would never end.
